Transfer from USS to LGPS

I left university employment and deferred my USS (22 years of service) just over three years ago.

Been working outside the sector since then, but may now be going to work full-time for a university that is LGPS.

I will look into it in more detail, but does anyone know if it is advantageous to transfer my USS into LGPS if provided the opportunity?

TIA

Once you know the numbers; ages you can draw; when you want to retire; whether you want a lump sum (one of the big advantages of LGPS is ability to take out an AVC and draw as cash) then it may or may not be advantageous. Transfer is a time limited option (including obtaining the figures) so make it a priority once in the door. Obviously worth enquiring.

It depends......  Once you join the LGPS you can ask for an estimate of what your USS benefits will 'buy' you, then decide.
