GivEnergy 5kw inverter Gen 1 v Gen 2

Options
Hi all,
We are shortly due to have solar panels installed on our house. Our installer has let us know that there is a shortage of gen 2 giv energy inverters and is suggesting we go for a gen 1 as these are currently available. We are having 16 panels installed 16 x 390w and a 5.2 kw battery. Does anyone have any experience of givenergy?

Many thanks!

    Oh yes..where do I start.

I put an order for them in Nov 2021 and had the batteries installed in May 2022. Their supply bottlenecks are legendary! The system worked for a month and then the AC coupled inverter died.
Givenergy very very very unhelpful and set me and the installer on a wild goose chase.
Finally got it repaired after 4 ish weeks.

Batteries - they have the pretty much unfixable problem of sudden loss of battery capacity. It's a problem with their BMS and how it interprets state of charge. In short, the chaps who .are this are cowboys.

Other than this, it's helped me store solar and use it later. But for the same.money I could have bought Victron and Pylontech or any other decent battery. Their customer service has gone down the toilet the recently.

I might be unlucky.. but there are plenty who have had similar failures.

Would I buy them again -. No way!
