ReMortgage with CCJ

Hi all.
Desperately looking for advice. I’m in the market for a remortgage for my help to buy home.
Issue is; I have an unpaid CCJ (£580)on file. Back story;
Store card taken out in 2004. Not paid off. My fault completely.
Store card taken out in 2004. Not paid off. My fault completely.
DCA in 2009 contacted me and I paid partial amount on understanding this was the end of the matter forever. Didn’t keep any evidence like a fool.
Bought house in 2017. Registered on electral role straight away but (I think) because house was brand new it didn’t work. Did again 6 months later and it worked.
During that time the a CCJ was registered against me (old address) for the debt I partially paid off. I can’t prove I paid it and agreed to to pay 50% to satisfy the debt. The solicitor mislead me and didn’t tell me it would remain on file as unsatisfied as full payment not made.
I was on fixed rate and no need for loans so hasn’t really been an issue.
I now have 1 year until ccj drops off file. My rate of interest is now high and I’m struggling with variable rate mortgage payments. No one seems to be able to get a remortgage for me due to ccj.
I can pay £280 to satisfy the ccj - although this solicitor has lied before, so worried I’m just wasting £280.
Should I pay it? Will this give me a better chance of securing a remortgage? Or should I just suck it up for another 12
months.
Thanks

Can't you switch to a new fix and stay with your current bank? That'll be better than the variable rate.If it's a bad credit bank then you could get a 2 year fix and move to a high street bank when the fix ends and your credit report is all clean.1

Tried and few times and they won’t. Really frustrating. Credit score is 997 too.0

What bank is this and what reason are they giving? Are you simply switching to a few fix or trying to pay off your help to buy loan as well? If you're trying to increase your loan then I can see why you're not able to pick a new fix with you current bank.It doesn't make any sense that you aren't able to remortgage simply because of one 5 year old CCJ for £280.I've had plenty of experience with bad credit (in a much better place now!) and there are almost always banks willing to lend if you tick their boxes.Have you spoken to a broker at all?0

Precise mortgages. Wife had a few late payments hence not a high street bank at the time. No issues now. They don’t give a reason, just say tough luck in a polite way.
Local brokers said I can’t get a HTB mortgage with the unpaid CCJ.Don’t want to increase. Just fix rate
Could you recommend a specialist broker?0
