Teachers Pension for non teacher

I’m hoping to gain some advice on the TPS. I have accrued ten years of previous service but am no longer in the profession. I hope to be in a financial position to start paying into a pension scheme in the near future but just wondering how to go about it. I’ve read that I can pay into the TPS but as a non teacher are there any issues/pitfalls to doing this? Realise that there would be no employer contributions etc.
My current work status is a mixture of self employment and paye examining work. All advice much appreciated.

You cannot pay into the TPS unless you’re employed as a teacher. Your pension will just remain deferred until you reach the age to take it.0

No, TPS is only for the teachers and teaching positions. What give you that impression that you can still pay into it? Generally speaking, school staffs who are not teachers get enrolled into LGPS.0

Was there a pension with the employment mentioned above?
