Hard searches after offer has expired?

Options
We applied for a Halifax mortgage around a year ago.  Unfortunately the purchase didn’t go ahead.  Quite recently I received an alert from Credit Karma that showed Halifax had done a hard search on my file.  I’ve not done any other applications if any kind recently.

Does anyone know why this would be and does it mean there is a chance we could just use that offer for a ‘new’ purchase?

Thanks!

The offer would have expired, would need to do a new application.

The hard search on your file could be the one done a year ago, does it show the date?

Rates are very different now to a year ago.

    Did you cancel the application?

A Halifax offer doesn't actually expire, unless it's a £ for £ port or less then it has a twelve month expiry date. Product drawdown deadlines pass but if you don't actually cancel an application it can sit waiting for a new product to be selected or a valuation refresh to be done.
