Hi,
I received a letter from HMRC stating that I might have overpaid N.I in the previous tax year with a form to complete. I am planning on doing a self assessment anyway so will this be rectified as part of the SA or do I need to complete the form? Thanks

You must complete the form. NI overpayments are dealt with in a separate process and office. Presumably you had two jobs and paid too much NI at 12% or were both employed or self-employed?0

OK - it is likely that the total of the two exceed the £50000 odd and you would be due a refund as you paid too much at 12% but it is a separate department (Newcastle upon Tyne?)0

I have now completed and returned the form. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to issue the bank transfer? Thanks0
