Advice on electricity use and smart meter

As mentioned already look at the usage in kWh not pounds. You have no idea how the neighbours system is setup, they might have the wrong pricing info but it seems unlikely anyone living in a house with fixed appliances could use less than 1kWh over the course of a day which is what that could equate to.dizzybee001 said:I went to my neighbours house last night and her total cost for the day was .59p!!! So I came home and switched off everything except the boiler and oven. Still .89p this morningRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
You should be allowed to retrospectively add a referral code to your application which should get you and your referrer £50. It's not allowed to share them on MSE though.dizzybee001 said:Hi everyone I took the plunge and called Octopus today and I am switched and waiting to apply for Octopus go and the SEG scheme which does pay more than Eon so fingers crossed I can make some savings.
The day time rate on Octopus go is higher than the standard rate on Eon 39.35 kw vs 27.63 so I will have to be savvy during the day and only use appliances when I am generating, my cups of tea during the day are going to cost me more but hopefully I will reap the benefits charging the car at night?
Yes you will have to be savvy. If you can programme any appliances to run overnight - I run the dishwasher that can be useful. However I did see advice that suggested this could be a fire risk. Also you may need to watch out for total consumption. Many houses have a 60amp maximum and if you are charging the car and running say a washing machine and dishwasher at the same time in the night it could take you close.Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. Install 2: Sept 19, 600W SSE

Ahh good advice, thank you. I hope this does help reduce the costs, theyve estimated my dd as higher than EON at the moment, but hopefully it will all settle down when they work out my average cost.Exiled_Tyke said:
