Hi all.
Just had a quote through from a solar install company, and I'm pitching in the dark as to whether this is a good quote or not.
As follows.
We have an East / West roof, so this is for panels on both the front and the back roofs. Back can carry more than the front (10-5 split)
6kwp system (4kwp on the back, 2kwp on the front)
1 GIVENERGY EM115 METER WITH CT CLAMP
1 MY ENERGI EDDI IMMERSION CONTROLLER
1 SOLAR INSTALLATION LABOUR
1 MINI CONSUMER UNIT SUPPLY AND INSTALL
1 MISCELLANEOUS ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION - HYBRID AND BATTERY
1 DNO APPLICATION AND INSURANCE FEES
Sub Total: £16,995.19
Thinking that this is quite high, that we could either reduce the size of the battery (The problem with this battery is that it would have to go on an outside wall of the house. If we got a 5.2 kwh battery, this could be installed in the loft) (We could add another battery at a later date if we wanted to, although we would have to pay VAT on that)
Could also just do the back roof panels and not the front as well. This would mean having a 4kwp system.
For context, we use 5200 KWH per year at the moment for the house, and about 4800 kwh per year for the EV charging. The EV charging unit is not currently set up to be able to use Solar power. We are on Octopus Intelligent tarrif (40p peak, 7.5 pence off peak) for our electricity costs, and have heating oil not gas which does the Hot Water and the heating.
Any thoughts from the forum members to the above. Quote suggests payback of 9/10 years, although I think the figures they are using are ambitious on kwh prices after the first few years. With the immersion controller, I've no idea how much heating oil we would save although this would also be a cost saving to some extent.

Seems a little on the high side to me, but sure some of the experts on here will be able to advice.I'l also going for a East/West split - Here was my quote, i'm going for Option 2.1
