Im with you, I hated doing overtime and would always try to avoid it.
If it was being forced on me, 100% I would say something.
I would try to find a way to discuss it without throwing your colleague under the bus but if that is the only way to get your evenings/weekends back then yes.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If the only way the work gets done is overtime, can you just not be available for overtime? Just do your hours and collect your salary?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Acceptable to whom? It certainly won't be to your colleague and you run the risk of creating a throroughly unpleasant workplace for yourself once he rumbles - as he will - who welched on him. If the boss already knows but is 'too scared' to do anything, there's no point. Far better, as others have already said, to propose a 'solution' without necessarily being too explicit about the problem - or more accurately who the problem is.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1

What a bunch of wimps! Absolutely say something. Won’t it drive you mad putting up with this rubbish? What power does this guy have? None I bet0

How many people do your job?
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Where my wife worked there were many complaints about unequal output of work from people doing exactly the same job. Complaints/concerns were raised with managers but nothing ever happened.
