Cooking for one, replacement for main oven?

  • I recently brought an Air Fryer - the Ninja dual and I've not used my oven since. Can do more or less everything in it - some things need a bit of adapting but it's quicker and cheaper to use (and easier to clean)

Same here, cooks everything that can be cooked in the oven, under the grill or in the chip pan

As for pizza, you can buy small bases that fit, or do as I do, use a pitta or naan bread or even use a sub

Another vote for a halogen oven. Its quicker and mine  has an extender ring to make the space larger.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Looking at the Argos link , how easy is it to clean? I know those with drawer type come out but the fat from the chicken would spatter all over ? I’m all for easy clean up!

I use a toaster oven, bought at Aldi years ago.  It's a little one as I originally wanted it for my camper.  As another singleton I wouldn't eat a whole pizza anyway, so if it's frozen I snap (or cut if you prefer) it into 2 or 4 bits as soon as I get the shopping home and then one piece fits fine in the oven.  The only thing that doesn't fit is bread loaves so I'm going to experiment with other types of bread or bread substitute maybe on the hob.  Makes great oatcakes (the Scottish kind).  Those other types of ovens seem very expensive for one person cooking, I'd rather adapt what I eat.

I think the rotisserie attachment is bought as an addition, without that you would put it in a small tray on the shelf.

I use a Haologen oven and hardly ever use my standard oven. Bought it from a company on ebay.  An air fryer is also a good idea but costs considerably more to buy.
I realise the following is not relevant to your question but just for information if anyone is buying a new cooker, gas is still cheaper than electricity to run.

We've got a combi micro. When our main oven died we took it out and built a cupboard in its place as the combi- micro does near enough everything and wastes much less heat.  We do have a halogen which gets brought out when Im doing Xmas turkey (half in slow cooker/half halogen) or roast spuds and would easily do a large pizza if we wanted it to.    Did think  about an airfryer but  got the halogen for free before committing to buying one and not really thought about them again.
Its me Culpepper LOL couldn't sign in with the old ID so time for a fresh start....
  • I have a combi microwave too that is fine for doing pizzas and anything like a roast (for when i have visitors) .. i also have a tower airfry (the kind with shelves rather than a basket) that i can do most of my own cooking in (im vegan so meat fat isnt a problem)

So my search for an alternative to using my main oven continues, I have looked at air fryers, halogen and convection ovens and mini ovens and I am baffled!
I like the idea of and air fryer with 2/3 shelves and a drop down door so I can cook a couple of things at once, but reviews say that the shelves need to be swapped around part way through.
I have also seen air fryers with a draw, but can sausages and chips be cooked at the same time? can a chicken be cooked, do roast potatoes come out the same?
I do live on my own but do also have my dad round for dinner, so it needs to be big enough to double the portions sizes.
And I don't like the idea of a combi microwave.
All in all my head is spinning.
