Seems like quite a range of strong bread flours in stock on Ocado for home delivery?

Recently I have struggled to get any bread flour to stock up my supplies, and I was wondering if I can substitute it with plain flour instead.  I only really make bread or pizza dough in my bread maker but have always followed the recipe from the book that came with the machine.
Why don't you try it and see?
I've been making my bread in a breadmaker with plain flour for years. Always turns out fine.
    Same here.

  • I make bread most days and used to buy supermarket flour for 60p a bag - I think it's still about that in Aldi, but it was £1 last time I looked in Tesco. Because of that, I started buying 16kg or 25kg bags online. Cheapest was somewhere like Alliance Online - less than £1 kg. Last lot came from Shipton Mill because they have granary flour too. When we went into lockdown, I was very glad to have my sack of flour here!

  •  Perhaps a sofa bread recipe would work better than yeasted?
can we all have sofa bread please! so so much more comfy than soda bread.

Sorry, made me smile- guess it's that predictive text again......

Haha sorry about that. Yes, SODA bread.

Reading the rest of the thread I like the idea of scones, griddle cakes or american 'bisuits'. I also make flat breads in the skillet with normal plain or wholemeal and they turn out fine.
