Remortgage to cover increasing bills

Options
Is anyone else thinking they’ll need to remortgage to cover the increasing bills?? I’m worried I won’t be able to sustain my family if everything keeps going up. We just about make ends meet as it is. I only have 3 years left on my mortgage but can barley afford all the general cost of living bills. I have been a nurse for over 20 years. My husband has I’ll health and currently not working whilst he is recovering. My salary covered everything for now without any breathing space. I’m terrified of everything going up more. What’s everyone else going to do just to live???

  • Has your husband claimed PIP?

Are you both claiming everything, do a benefit check on entitled to as it's not just for those earning NMW or working part-time, it's based on circumstances and with kids there may be extra help.

You could always ask your lender to extend the term as this would bring the monthly payment down, but you'd end up paying more overall. I'm not sure if it can be done with a charge on the property but hopefully one of the resident brokers or other knowledgeable member will.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Yea he does get the lower rate PIP which I’m very grateful for.
We have spoken to our mortgage lender. They are trying to be very helpful. I’m just worried in the long term.
sick of working hard and having no money all the time. I’m sure a familiar story echoed from millions of us. It’s not going to get any easier.
