Sorry didn`t know she had the duo crisp, thought it was just a standard instant pot. Should have read the whole post.leftatthetrafficlights said:
Depends on your instant pot- mine is the duo crisp +air fryer so does it all.pamsdish said:
An instantpot is an electric pressure cooker, you cannot air fry in them, an air frier, such as a ninja, air fries and pressure cooks, slow cooks etc, I have an instantpot and a Ninja health grill, between the two I cook most things, I do not belong to the " I have a, whatever, and cannot cook any other way" brigade, if I want a fried egg, I fry it in a frying pan on the gas hob. I have not used my oven since Christmas, when I got the Ninja, and as they cook so quickly find it uses less energy.MrsFarmer19 said:
My InstantPot arrived today at 4.30pm. I cooked a gammon in the pressure cooker setting then glazed and roasted for 5 mins - took 25 mins in total. Then I made chips which took 20 mins in the air fryer and they were really nice, my partner insisted he wouldn't like air fryer chips but he really enjoyed them. So far I'd defo recommend an InstantPot! (mine is the duo crisp model which has the air fryer lid)NoobSolar said:Thanks for these very informative contributions. My question is this: I am considering a multi cooker or instant pot pro type purchase. Do these air fry? The Ninja 9 in 1 says it 'air crisps' but seems very unclear about whether it air fries!Do I need it or just want it.0 -

Defo an air fryer!! Made really good chips in it the other night, I'm on lates at work this week so not using it until Saturday now. Got plans to make mozerella sticks (homemeade), chicken strips & maybe some bunny burgers if I have time!pamsdish said:

I've not bought a multicooker, but have been suckered in by the claims and functionality of the Ninja Foodimax 15-1 with Smartlid, which appears to do everything.
I've done some research on groups and heard mostly good things (a few not so good), but wondered if anyone here had any experience.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

Theres 3 of us here and tbh I dont know how its supposed to cook a 3 piece meal for more then three or 4
However the PC function is fantastic ( never used one before and finding this is my go to function ) Steam roast/bake are other functions I use a lot.I have this and the Ninja Dual, and I prefer the dual tbh, but then the 15 in 1 really complements the dual
Tonight I cooked a 1kg of pork loin, cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots , parsnips and potatoes - in 45 mins - using both machines - would have taken about an hour, hour 20 with one machineYou do need to learn to cook differently with the 15 in 1, the dual is just a mini oven/grill/frypan so its easy to get to grips with2 -
I have the Foodie Max heath grill, haven`t used my oven since Christmas, in conjunction with my instant pot I can cook everything.Do I need it or just want it.1

Wow, the sauce button info may be life-changing for meleftatthetrafficlights said:
@PollyWollyDoodle - if you press the saute button twice it goes to a low heat 😉 took me a while to work that one out and almost gave up on using that function!! 😂
I use my IP all the top but sautéing always resulted in burning so I've been frying separately then adding to the IP. I can skip that now. Thank you @leftatthetrafficlights If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I'm resurrecting this old thread in the hope that someone has used an Instant pot to make jam. I have a huge crop of greengages and no freezer space, so any hints and tips would be welcome, thanks.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’ve been considering buying an instant pot since I saw some “Six Sisters” posts about them. Clearly Six Sisters are getting something for promoting the Instant pots, however what they do seems pertinent to my needs. I’ve bought two or three Six Sisters books on the back of some of their online stuff and blogs. On a day to day basis I just cook for two of us. We are largely vegetarian (I’m drifting as I’ve developed issues with low iron levels, and weight gain). I’d retired my slow cooker (just cling filmed and stuck on a high shelf) because I can’t see the advantage of it for non meat cooking barring the fact that you can leave it to do its own thing. Can anyone persuade me that an instant pot is a good idea? I like the ideas of …. Air frying chips, drying vegetable and fruit (whole or pieces), slow cooking, pressure cooking but not just for the sake of it. I regularly batch cook and freeze mushy peas, and already have a good reliable rice steamer. I don’t wish to have the worktop clutter or cupboard fillers of the latest fads, having fallen for all of those things in the past. Is an instant pt JUST a fancy-pants pressure cooker?2
