My partner has been paying the mortgage herself on a property she originally purchased with now ex-partner.. he hasn’t contributed for most of the mortgage term.. they have been divorced for a long time but he has never been taken off the mortgage due to lots of circumstances.. it will be paid off in just over a years time but my partner now wants to get him off.. she has spoken to Santander who basically want her to remortgage (for £6000 ish remaining balance!) .. isn’t there a simpler way to do this? Any advice appreciated

p.s would she be better off just continuing to pay it off and sort out getting his name off the property once complete?
