Yes , you should budget for a consult fee of around £150 , but a private ortho consult would also work as they can refer to hospital .As op is over 18 they cannot get a NHS orthodontic consultation unless it is in the hospital service.0

Not sure how you got on, but reading this thread your dentist doesn't seem to know the process here. You will need to get referred to the hospital for a max-fax appointment, they will review and look at the issues with an orthodontist there also, they work together. Jaw surgery is reliant on having the orthodontics as well in preparation, during and after the surgery. You do not need to get referred to an orthodontist alone or first, just the max-fax department. If you are within the guidelines to have the surgery, you will get the orthodontics on the NHS also as part of the treatment plan - I hope you got there in the end!Mortgage Free Wannabe Light Bulb Moment (Early 2012, started May 2012)
