Silly question alert - first direct allow unlimited overpayments on their fixed rate mortgages without charge provided that the mortgage isn't paid off in full before the fixed period ends.
So, is a minimum monthly payment required or could I make a lump sum overpayment which reduces the outstanding balance to say 1p per month for the remaining fixed term ?

You should really call FD. It is quite specific and if we answer and get it wrong and you incur ERCs, you end up footing the bill. If FD give you the wrong answer, they should foot the bill.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
