Varifocal question

I had a new prescription and got some varilux x varifocal lenses - previously I had Zeiss.  I get along okay with both- but have noticed that if I look , for example , at my phone at a distance of about 12 inches thru my left eye on its own , then my right on its own - my right sees it about 2 inches closer , as if I was using a magnifying glass.    My left eye also sees it slightly clearer.   Does this suggest my prescription is wrong , or is it the same for other people ?

Images certainly don't seem any closer to me when viewed with one eye only.  That does seem strange.  One eye being slightly clearer than the other isn't uncommon - as long as it is only slight.  As it is a new prescription I would go back to the optician and mention your concerns.  Hopefully you got the glasses from the same place your eyes were tested.  If not, you could have problems trying to prove who is responsible for any issues.

I have the issue with mine that if I look through one eye only (either) the image is blurred but is clear with both.  I expect that some brain compensation happening.

But I agree that if you think something is wrong go back and get the optician to have a look at them.  They may have been measure the fitting incorrectly or made the lenses incorrectly in general.  I've had both these things happen in the past - one place (ok - it was Asda and the glasses were £50 including frames) took about 3 tries to get it right.
