Relocating to Scotland and getting a mortgage based on our work in England

Hi! My husband and I are possibly relocating back to the north of Scotland from Cheshire. We are both self-employed here which due to covid affected years has made remortgaging difficult. So we have sold our current house and will be moving in with family while we sort things out. We have commitments here for another year. My husband will be going 'employed' with his main subcontractor and I will be getting a remote 'employed' job. My question is, will we be able to secure a mortgage on a house up in Scotland using our jobs here for affordability? Rentals in the north of Scotland are few and far between so we would rather move straight to our own house. We also have our eye on a new town being built and some of those homes are being released in October 2022 for a move in date of Oct 2023. We have no worries with regards to work up there as my husband's family all live up there and we have been offered a number of roles. But surely if we apply for the mortgage from here in Cheshire using our jobs based down here as affordability, we would be refused?

If you have an employment contract for a job in Scotland starting in the next few months, you may have options. For obvious reasons, that might not be compatible with buying a new-build with a long lead time to completion.
Hard as it might be, with respect to a mortgage, your best option would most likely be to move into a rental first, start your new jobs up in Scotland and then look to buy,
