  • Fill in a new start form (previously p46) if no p45, payroll systems will apply 1257L M1 code until told to do otherwise by hmrc
    Payroll systems will apply the tax code relevant to the employee status box ticked: A, B or C. If they've already received the revised code from HMRC they will use that.
