My Morrisons new style card

Well, that’s me told! What a rude woman that was.
Background is I haven’t been in my local Morrisons petrol station for quite a while as their fuel this last year or so is always at least 2p per litre dearer than Tesco but before that I was a regular fuel buyer and often bought a sandwich meal deal for lunch. I always showed my card and got points for both fuel and food. It was only a couple of months ago that I bought a Costa Express coffee and my card was accepted.
I didn’t need fuel today but walked down from the carpark to buy a coffee from the same machine. I went to the till and showed the My Morrisons card only to be sharply told that “you don’t get points in petrol stations any more, it’s only vouchers in store”. I queried this and she snapped “it’s been like that for ages now”.

Now I did realise that since the scheme name change they don’t issue money off vouchers in units of £5 and now the discounts are meant to reflect your regular purchases (not in my experience they haven’t 😂) but what I have never understood is the algorithms they use to decide who gets what offers and I now have twigged that it might be s*d all to do with how much I spend.
Just in case it is still a factor, I might as well go into the supermarket itself and buy the sandwich meal deal even though I could save a shedload of time buying the self same thing from their own shop on the forecourt. They have had a revamp and now sell a much bigger selection of own brand products including frozen foods.
Petrol though will be bought a Tesco from now on. At least that way the spend counts towards cash off vouchers. We don’t have Asda or Costo here so fuel choice is Tesco, Morrisons or franchises from Shell, Esso, Jet etc. whose prices are astronomical.

and if you buy the sandwich meal deal in Tesco & have a club card then you get it for £3 rather then £3.50
If you have Tesco CC you get 1 point per £ spent on fuel rather than 1 point per £2 on the clubcard
(and if you use your Mr T points remember to do their survey once a month- worth 25 points)
Morrisons loyalty card wasn't ever a great deal but now it is... not worth having at allBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I have also experienced my card beeping but no discounts are applied and when you query the bill all they do is send you customer services or buzz for a supervisor. They are most adamant that there’s nothing they can do. It’s the app at fault not them and you will have to ring customer services in Newcastle. Even the store managers are not interested. If it wasn’t for the fact that I can get certain low/no fat products for hubby’s dietary needs which Tesco don’t have, I wouldn’t go to Morrisons any more.0 -
I still get the occasional deal through my card - though there's no relevance to petrol any more.
Currently 10% off beer & cider and 10% off baby potatoes
As they have some half decent multi-buy offers on beer I might go for that0 -

As they have some half decent multi-buy offers on beer I might go for thatEver since the new scheme began, one of my offers has been yoghurt. Every blooming week till a fortnight ago. Yay!!! but the joy was short lived. It’s back this week 😡 I do not buy yoghurt, period. That’s the worst offender but there have been other one offs that are not relevant to my shopping. Even with one for their own thick cut malted bloomer (not Bakery one) which I would buy, the discount is so pitiful that I am better off with the Iceland or Aldi version at their normal price.0 -

So if you buy £60 of food and £10 of alcohol, you don't get the "stamp" for spending £70 that week. Personally I rarely shop at Morrisons, usually the only times I go there are when I'm doing the shopping for the in-laws (they 'like' Morrisons stuff). But I always used to get petrol there, and getting points on petrol made it worthwhile - especially since it was the cheapest around anyway. The new system is rubbish, and the odd coupons you do get are worth peanuts, and often not for stuff you regularly buy anyway. And it's waaayyyy more expensive than my preferred option of Aldi/Lidl, where I always do my own shopping.
