Fixed Contract and getting a mortgage

My fiancé is looking into another job and interviewed for a position today which is a 5 year fixed-term contract which could be extended by two years. We're first time buyers still saving but think we will be in a position to start looking for a home in the New Year.
Will we face problems or potentially higher mortgage rates with him on a fixed term contract? What would the possible ramifications be for a mortgage if he took the job?
If it helps I'm in a full-time permanent role I've been in for nearly 3 years.

@emjhall97 With a 5 year FTC, and assuming the applicant has been continuously employed in the same industry/role prior to the FTC, you should have mainstream options. Until he's been in the job for 12m, it may not be for every lender but you should still have mainstream options. Once he's been in the job for 12m+, then you should have a wide range of lenders that will consider.EmJHall97 said:My fiancé is looking into another job and interviewed for a position today which is a 5 year fixed-term contract which could be extended by two years. Just to be clear, the above is a general comment based off of the very limited info in your post and limited to the issue of the FTC. There may be other relevant details in the background that help/hinder your options.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
