So I've changed jobs to one that is a work from home position. The company has an office where I could work from, in theory. It's in London, which is 200 miles away.
Now I would say that it's unreasonable for me to travel to these premises on a daily basis.
Does that mean I can claim tax relief (I'm thinking the basic £6 relief)? I don't get any expense from the company for working from home.
Thanks x

No expense from the employer sounds like you got the rough end of the deal. Working from home, using your own resources, paying increased bills in the middle of an energy crisis thats about to see bills go thru the roof. Good luck.0

Does your contract of employment specify that you have to work from home? You have to be required to work from home, not just choose to do so. Even then, if someone nearer London could do the job from the office, HMRC could challenge a claim.1

Compared to the savings I'm making in fuel, wear and tear on a vehicle & childcare, for the cost of running 2 screens and a laptop, I don't see how that's a rough dealsubjecttocontract said:No expense from the employer sounds like you got the rough end of the deal.
