in Cutting tax
Hello,
I am hoping to start my PGCE in September.
This will result in my paying tax for 6 months on a tax code that assumes I am working for 12 months.
I will have earnt around £8500, taking me under the tax threshold and am unlikely to earn any more money this financial year as a result of the full on nature of the course (along with having 3 children).
Am I able to apply for a rebate now or do I need to wait for the end of the tax year, and does the rebate apply to NI as well as tax?
thanks for your help

You can claim any refund due once you have received your P45.
Look on gov.uk for form P50.
But if you don't bother HMRC will automatically refund any overpaid tax this time next year.
NI is calculated per pay period so no NI refund will be due.1
