Why can't I highlight multiple folders in file explorer? - fixed.

I've tried searching for solutions to this. I've tried 'reset folders' and restarted without success. The only other solution seems to be to play around with the registry, which I'm reluctant to do. The job's not that important.
The problem is that I can't highlight more than one folder in win explorer (win 10), using either shift click or ctrl click. I always end up moving the highlight to the last folder clicked on.
I want to do this to copy a group of folders from my laptop to a spare drive.
Any thoughts?

Where are you trying to select the folders? You need to click on the folders in the details pane on the right hand side, not the navigation pane on the left.1

Oh darnit, you're right. What a chump I am.
I've changed the post header, so as not to waste others time.
Thanks.1
