Cost of living payment in an IPA

Options
Hello,

Does anyone know if the cost of living payment from the government for those on certain benefits will be included in your IPA?

I have found zero info on this and I guess it probably will be but does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers.

This is the advice from the Insolvency Service, it does not cover cost of living payments in particular, but you should get an answer from the contact details provided -

Income Payments Agreements and Income Payments Orders

If you have an Income Payments Agreement or Income Payments Order, you can ask for a review of your income and expenses to see if you are eligible for a reduction in payments, or payment break.

The spending guidelines have been updated for inflation in the current financial climate and if you feel you need a review, you should contact the organisation you make payments to.

If you pay Advantis, the Official Receiver’s collection agent, you can contact them on:

If you pay the Official Receiver directly, you can contact them on:

If you pay an Insolvency Practitioner or their collection agent, please contact them directly.

  • Yeah, that's all I could find too.

I haven't been given the IPA yet but I expect it to be included as income along with the £400 fuel payment.

I wouldn`t lose heart just yet, due to the exceptional circumstances, and the fact new guidance has been slow to be issued, I would think/hope, that you may be allowed to keep it.

If you are claiming in-work benefits then you should not be assessed for an IPA anyway.

I cannot see the Insolvency Service claiming any government assistance payments.
