  • Hi all just thought I would update you.
Following a period of 3 weeks where the 'agency' failed to supply a cleaner and told my mum she could not under any circumstances use the cleaner she used to have as she was now working for herself and that it was illegal for her to use them.
The 'agency' phoned to previous cleaner and asked her to take on my mum as a client!
handbags had been withdrawn and apparently all was now well.
What happened I dont know but my mum is happy. thanks for all your advice.

I love threads like this -

"bUt We DoN't HaVe A pIeCe Of pApEr TitlEd CoNtRaCt?!!!"

So what are you sending them money for then? Perhaps it is a gift??

From when my partner and I were looking at cleaning agencies, it was obvious there were very strong terms around poaching clients and it's completely understandable. The agency obviously doesn't want cleaners joining their agency, becoming familiar with their clientele, then quickly upping sticks to go 'self-employed' whereby they encourage the clientele to go direct, possibly splitting the savings between them.

Part of the agency fee is for marketing, so it seems unfair that the agency spends money attracting customers, if a new cleaner could just come in and steal clients.

You may get sued, you may not, who knows.
