Stamp duty

Hi
I was wondering if anyone has got any advice.
I have a question of what would be best to use for stamp duty payment.
A gift from a friend in the Uk or funds from a EU savings account?
I'd prefer to use the gift as I need my savings in foreign currency to use for something else.
My solicitor mentioned it might affect the mortgage application. What do you think?
