Marriage Tax Allowance

My wife has received two P800 letters from HMRC saying she is entitled to a tax refeund of £501 but that the refund cheque will be sent to a company called MY MARRIAGE TAX. HMRC say they must do this because they have a signed deed of assignment on file which gives MY MARRIAGE TAX to apply for this refund. Neither my wife or I have heard of this company and we have not completed any deed for them. Has anyone else come across this company?

Quite common. Have you ever claimed PPI / a PPI tax refund ?  Have you ever signed up to a "tax check" through your union or on social media ?  These are the usual ways of signing up to these pond life companies.  You need to contact them and tell them you revoke their authorisation.

I would ask HMRC to see the signed deed.

You do know your wife cannot get a tax refund due to Marriage Allowance unless you have (supposedly) applied for it?

It is the recipient, your wife, who gets a refund not the applicant.
