Remortgaging buy to let

Hi all,

Can anybody help? I'm remortgaging my buy to let property. I was talking to a broker who got me a mortgage in principle, but failed to inform me of his fees to take out the mortgage. My question is, now I know I have the mortgage in principle and have the document, would it be wrong to go straight to the company and save myself £500? I know there is the mortgage fee and valuation fee anyway. I just wasn't expecting his fee to set it up.

Any advice helpful. Thanks.

Does the lender concerned accept direct business?

    Many BTL specialists don't.

As far as I am aware, TMW is broker-only.

Sounds like you've been particularly unlucky. Before I found my current broker, I've spoken to many over the past decade and they've always been upfront about their fee and also included it in the illustration they sent when recommending a mortgage.
I've never come across a broker who hid their fee until the AIP stage, it's kind of pointless isn't it.
Going back to your question, there's nothing stopping you from using TMW direct https://www.tmwdirect.co.uk/contact-us/book-an-appointment or using a free broker now that the important bit of identifying the right lender is done.
If you're going for one of the free brokers, take care to avoid Habito, they seem to be in a spot of bother. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6375374/habito-mortgage-brokers-in-trouble#latest

Blimey I'm having a mare today. I couldn't find a direct offering on the TMW site.
