Sending sweets/biscuits etc to usa

Hi all,
there's not been a post on this topic for a few years so thought I'd ask as this seems overly complex...
Has anyone sent a parcel of sweets/chocolates/biscuits to the USA and what did you actually have to do?
FedEx is my cheapest option but they're saying I absolutely need an fda prior notice form, for each item. I've had a look and the form seems incredibly archaic and asks me things which look like they'd only apply to a business.
Ups and DHL and some other sites have guidance saying an fda prior notice form is not needed for gifts being sent between private individuals. Live chat with DHL confirmed that.
DHL is significantly more expensive but if sending with FedEx is going to cause a huge hassle due to their potential misunderstanding then I have no choice really as it seems impossible to fill out sections such as my business address etc.
DHL say I just need a customs form. But do I need to itemise every single item when I have loads of different chocolate bars, sweets, biscuits etc. Or can I put various confectionery consisting of the following HS nominal codes, and find all that could apply?
Maybe I'm worrying too much. Just trying to figure out how to send a friend a box of British stuff..
