Export to neighbour

With the price of leccy going up and forecast to hit 50p/KWh
I might actually set up an export meter for my neighbor and charge 10p/kWh.

Anyone know the logistics behind this and what would need to be done?
Of course this is a scouting mission.

No idea of the electrical logistics as I can't see you could tie into their ring main, so at best would have a long "extension lead" with all that would entail re max load but I would look very closely at the FiT T&C as you are selling you generation, i.e. trading and that may either may you ineligible for FiT, or the FiT may become income taxable on you, no to mention the money you get from selling the electricity...

@pinnks unfortunately I do not get FiT or SEG for the second system.  I have exported over 2MW to the grid and not yet registered for SEG🙄.

The more I think about this the more complicated it is.

There are rules about the re-selling of electricity.

AIUI, it is in simple terms, that a consumer or business cannot resell electricity at a higher rate than that paid for it.  [The main reason behind this is to stop unscrupulous landlords in HMOs from charging exorbitant amounts to tenants.]

So, if it is solar power that you have not paid a unit price for, you would have to give it away for free.

Still might be worthwhile if you provide free electricity to keep the neighbour's swimming pool at a comfortable temperature and they let you take an after-work dip.

Sounds like quite a nice community project. The extension lead with a plugin energy monitor would probably be the easiest. However, what might be tricky is make sure you are only giving them electricity that would otherwise be exported.

If https://co-charger.com/rent-my-charger/ is legal then some of the other objections don't hold water.

There is an exemption to the '"no reselling energy at a profit" for EV charging.

Otherwise, none of the public EV charger networks would be commercially viable.

Electrically take care. Properties can be on different phases which leads to potentials not just of '240V' but 415v.
That requires much more consideration for safety reasons. You would not want to end up with a frazzled neighbour.....
    or perhaps would!

I think the exemption is actually that EV chargers are rented out on a time basis, even if you pay for each kWhr. So you are paying for access to the equipment that lets you charge, rather than just buying the electricity. So it isn't considered reselling. (Seems a bit of a loophole, to me.) I think this is the only way you would be legally allowed to sell your excess generation to your neighbour.

Edit to add: you could technically let them charge with a 13A trickle charge and as you have no way of knowing exactly how many kWhrs you are selling to them and because it isn't supplying their house because the car could be parked on your property, it also isn't covered by the reselling rules.
