Just to close this loop: I called HMRC again to ask, and they said it doesn’t show on the website because It isn’t yet overdue - I.e owed. From 1st Feb it would be showing on the website as overdue.

Ultimately, I still needed to pay it!
Which is what I suggested on 7 August.
  • So you can't pay it until it's overdue...?

  • This thread has so much misinformation!

The taxpayer does not have a statement of account.  They have received a Simple Assessment, nothing to do with Self Assessment.

HMRC statements of account do show amounts becoming due in the future.  Although any early payment would be shown as a credit as it doesn't get allocated to a future liability until about 45 days before the due date.

I suspect the person the op spoke to doesn't know what has happened and if they phoned again they would get a different explanation.

But until they receive an amended Simple Assessment the original amount is payable by whatever date the Simple Assessment notice specified.  What HMRC do if it isn't paid is another matter.  Possibly not much going off other responses.
