Paying deposit from different account than proof of deposit account

After I transferred the money from my current account, my solicitor just wanted an "evidence that the payment has been sent from my account".
Earlier, as a proof/source of funds I submitted statements for recent 3 months for a dozen of various savings account (it was a big debosit, small LTV).

We submitted a savings account to show we had the funds and then nearer the time asked what proof would be required as the actual money would be coming from different accounts. We were told that it was fine as long as the accounts were in our name.
From an AML PoV, checking the source shows that the client has the money, if they then use different pots to pay over, I guess the solicitor has done their job.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I agree, at least it shows that some money is in a clean account, though how it got there is of course unsubstantiated. Most solicitors checks are only that you have some money in an account for over 3 or 6 months. There is no historical finances checks. So it probably doesn’t matter that much if it’s coming from another account in the same name.MWT said:silvercar said:From an AML PoV, checking the source shows that the client has the money, if they then use different pots to pay over, I guess the solicitor has done their job.Solicitors will differ on that one so it is always worth asking the question.Having a clean account to show up front and then using money from different sources that have not been checked is exactly how money laundering can happen...I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
