Retrofit solar I Boost quote

Options
I have had a quote to fit a solar i boost to my existing PV system of £800. Is this a "we don't really want to do this" price?

It was my understanding that the i boost is cheaper than the Eddi, but have I got that wrong?

Do people on here have a preference for either? If so, why?

Thanks

It comes off a perfectly normal spur which currently will be connected to your immersion. So it is a small job. Price is too high ad suggests someone who doesn't want to take time off from golf.

It should be cheaper than an eddi.
Eddi's are in back order atm.

If you are looking to heat two elements sequentially then you will need either an iboost or an eddi I believe,  but if you are only planning on heating one, then something like a solic 200, which will be a fair bit cheaper

    Just the one heating element.

Thank you all for your input. I'll be off to find myself an electrician.

It's fairly simple to install yourself.

I'm not aware that I have a second element. In what cases would you typically have two elements?

some have  top and side elements
so can use one if you want sink of hot water to do washing up, or full tank for bath
I have diverted my second feed to a heated towel rail but will will change this to feed a 700 wat convector heater for use in spring and autumn. I'm on  a feed in tariff so have slightly different priorities

like this picture here. or you could have a dedicated socket for a resistive load eg oil filled radiator on the second relay.
