Kitten destroyed blind cord

Can anyone help. My 5 month old kitten is a complete menace and has destroyed our blinds. We have been trying so hard to train him out of going anywhere near them and I thought we had succeeded but just discovered he has been at them again and has bitten through several strings. They are the string that control the tilt mechanism. They are shredded in three places. I left him unsupervised for an hour and this has happened. Every room in our house has these blinds so there's no way I can lock him out, but he seems to particularly enjoy trying to destroy these ones.

Replacing the whole blind will be really expensive, as it's a huge blind. I can't figure out any way to tie the strings back together as there simply isn't enough slack. Is there any way to replace just the string? They are from Blinds2Go.

Loads of guides on YoutubeFairly straightforward if you are handy.

When current madam was a kitten she went through an electrical wire chewing phase. Solved that by wrapping them in spiwrap. Don't know if that would work on window blinds, though.P.S. She grew out of it at about 1 year old.2

Tonight I have thrown away some old blinds and kept the thin nylon cord, I cut it off. If you need a length DM me the length you need and an address and I'll post it to you if that helps. Mine were blinds to go verticles, but probably use same cord.

The kitten needs something else to play with and stimulate him - Catnip mice are one of my go-to toys. A feather on the end of a string/stick is also handy. To dissuade a particular activity, a water pistol is effective - Used it on a previous cat that likes to claw furniture. A few squirts up the backside, and he found another hobby. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.4 -
Which smells could act as a deterrent? Would vinegar, for example? A wipe of Vin on the cords?0

I can't help answer the blind question. And totally unsolicited suggestions but If he's indoor cat provide lots of extra entertainment. Hide food in lots of places, puzzle feeders, anything to keep him occupied with something else! Tie some (short) bits of string to other things for him to chew?
In all honesty my menace stopped being a menace the moment he was allowed outside. My houseplants are thankful.1 -
Wipe each cord with Cedar oil - or any strong smelling oil.I put some at my front door to stop neighbours cat coming into the enclosed porch and peeing on the door.Worked.Orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit seem to be popular choices. Some do use and don't use
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sorry to go off topic but can anyone recommend something to deter cats from pooing in your garden? A friend of mine has a nice front garden and it seems to be a poo magnet.Thank you.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

Garden centres and Amazon sell it, for starters.0
