Megabus/City Link finding bag left on bus?

I travelled recently on a Megabus from Inverness to Edinburgh, getting off at an intermediate stop. After the bus left I found I had left a bag on the luggage rack above the seat. My fault entirely, but I was travelling with 2 suitcases, 2 backpacks, a bag, handbag and a child.
I spoke to the bus supervisor at my stop who was uninterested since he wasn't a Megabus employee and suggested I came back to the stop in 2 hours time when the Megabus would be returning. Luckily i checked the timetable when I got home and found the bus time he gave me was operated by a different company, not Megabus or Citylink. The actual bus I had travelled on was due to make a quick journey back to Inverness, not stopping at my stop. I spoke to someone at Edinburgh and was told any luggage left on Megabus would be returned to Megabus depot and not handed in to Edinburgh.
A phone call to the Megabus 'help' line could only give me a link to a lost property form to complete and return. I did this, giving date, time, bus route and all information and got a reply saying I would be contacted if the bag was found, but not to get in touch with them again.
Unless the bag was stolen en route, it must have ended up at the Megabus depot but I was refused any contact details with them and told the only thing I could do was fill in this form and wait.
A week has passed with no information. Has anyone had this problem and was there any result after a long wait?

Have you searched for your item on https://www.missingx.com/Home/Index that Megabus use (apparently)... you may be able to "claim" an item that matches?1 -
Thanks. That's the form I registered with. Apparently once the missing item is reported, missingx circulates Megabgus/Citilink and searches for the item. If it is found the bus company gets in touch to arrange the return. So far, still waiting for any information.0
