Advance ticket bought but no seat reservations yet available

Options
I've bought an advanced rail ticket on Cross County Trains for my annual trip to Torquay in September. Whilst it says "Seat reservations are automatically allocated for advanced tickets" this hasn't happened this year and after several sets of Messenger contacts with customer services (hopeless to try ringing) about reservations not yet being released they've directed me to a link 'coronavirus-timetable-updates' but the date shown for reservations is actually the day before my outward travel. Not sure if this is actually because of the potential for rail strikes rather than for any other reason. I find it frightening.that, as a pensioner, I might have to suffer a 5 hour journey without a reservation. Last year I witnessed a lady with 2 children pushed about from seat to seat - not always together - because they didn't have reservations.
Perhaps it's time for Cross Country trains to change the wording about seat reservations with an advance ticket?

Maybe they have not finalised how many carriages the train will have.  I've always found XC very quick to respond via twitter.  They have sent seat reservations when I have had off-peak tickets and settled for a particular train a few days before travelling.
Maybe contact them in a week or so to see if seat reservations are open for your travel dates.  Good luck!
