Amazon claim I sent wrong phone back and won't refund

They check everything now. Amazon have been the victims of this type of scam in the past (devils advocate) Its cost them millions with people sending back bricks etc and getting refunded so now they check.

They have succesfully convicted these scammers.

Not saying this has happened here but someone has swapped it along the way and all Amazon see is the wrong item.

I'm intrigued. When you returned it, was it packed in a plain cardboard box? I'm just wondering because, if it was swapped while in the mail system, how on earth did they know there was an expensive iPhone 13 Pro in there. There's been a few of these posts about phones being swapped recently, but I'm just confused how they know which parcels contain expensive phones.

Unlikely as there will be cameras all over the place...more chance the courier delivering the returns

Yes I can understand this but surely if this is commonplace then why would they not have something set up to record or at least photograph these things? My wrapping was quite distinctive so they would easily be able to tell if it had been opened before it got to them? I have asked for evidence as this would prove it had been intercepted but they don't have any. It is so frustrating and the only thing that makes sense would be someone at the returns department has a new shiny phone.

I'm not sure how this would have helped.. it would have just confirmed that there wasn't an iPhone in the box.. how could this prove when the phone was swapped?
