Concessionary Bus Pass - Start Date

I'll soon be sufficiently ancient to qualify for a concessionary bus pass. In fact I've applied for one and have now received it. I'm curious though, my assumption is that it won't become valid until my birthday ( a few weeks yet), but does anybody know for sure? It doesn't say anything about a 'valid from' date on the card or in the accompanying letter (though maybe that info is embedded in the card?).

(I have queried this with the card issuer, but suspect a response may take some time).

I've just received confirmation that it can indeed be used before my birthday. Which rather surprises me, but I'm not going to argue!

Indeed!  My card was valid from the 30th November immediately preceding my January 5th birthday.  Sadly Covid-19 stopped me and my (similarly-aged friends) celebrating that 'first' trip into town for a Wetherspoons curry (it's all rock and roll in the 'Shires')...but it's all done and dusted (and enjoyed) now!

Where I live the website says I can't apply until my birthday and then goes on to say it will take up to 6 weeks to arrive!

Just renewed ours plus my Driving Licence. Four days after applying we had them all.

Mine says you can apply online up to 28 days before your birthday. A rule that seems to be enforced, as it wouldn't allow me to apply 29 days before. They also say "you will receive your pass within 28 days", but I applied on a Thursday and it arrived the following Tuesday.

It seems as if different local authorities have their own policies.  For my first one I couldn't apply until the actual day I was entitled to it and it was sent a couple of days later.
