Storing Split bags of Rice

Long story.... sigh... so i will give you the short version.

I was moving some food around my cellar and i've manage to split two 10kg bags of Rice..  I've already got a new one in the Kitchen that i've only just opened so i currently have just shy of 30kg of rice open to the elements.  I don't have any mylar bags or airtight containers big enough to put if all in.

Any ideas what i can do with it,  my celler is slightly damp so it can't stay open down there but it won't all fit in my kitchen.

have you got any strong plastic bags? even bin bags? I would double wrap then close with a klippit. I had 10kg bag of rice given to me- it was very thick plastic and I kept it airtight with plastic clip- mind it's not stored anywhere damp. In my case i could over wrap with a dog food sack.

Could you move it to a drier place, even the living room as a temporary measure?

Given the size of the bags, my first suggestion would be to dash out and buy a big plastic rubbish bin, the ones that have the clip-on lid, and place the bags in there, without decanting them.  Something like this.  That should keep the bugs out.

You can always add a layer of gaffer tape around the edge, for added protection.

It may seem implausible, but that is exactly how Asian families that eat rice as a staple store it. Standard outside bin, no clip required.

Not implausible at all.  I have seen them too.
