John Lewis have lost my Wii

Options
I bought a Wii from John Lewis online on the 6th December, with the expectation that they will deliver with 5 days as specified. I have still not received it, and tracking says that it reached my local depot for delivery.

I contact JL to find out where my Wii is, and they said that it has been 'lost' in the post! I am so sad about this, as I wanted it for Christmas - would be great for the fam to play after dinner. I know I can request a refund, but I will never be able to find a Wii now at the same price that I paid for it (my local woolworths have some in for near £300), and I know JL don't have any in stock now, I paid £211.

They said that I will be contacted on Monday, but what do I say to them, what are my rights?

Please help

  • Nitendo Wii is in stock on Amazon bundled with Super Paper Mario priced at £214.98.

In stock now at 11.33pm 15.12.07.

Just noticed it says only 2 left in stock.

But they seem to be coming back in stock at various places. Read the wii thread in the grabbit whilst you can forum on here.

Try ebay, as lots are ending tonight, the prices have been around £180. Good luck!
  • And they've now gone from Amazon at 11.38pm but there was a 5 Wii minute window. Never mind.
  • When they contact you on Monday they may have found one from somewhere. John Lewis have a good customer service reputation. Paint a picture of Tiny Tim waiting for his Wii on Christmas morning only to be disappointed.

But there is nothing you can do if it has been lost. They can only refund your money if they have none in stock.
  • Thanks for your advice, I really don't relish trawing through the Internet to find a Wii now. I will speak to them on Monday, and see what they have to say.

    Will keep you posted

Can I ask what courier John Lewis used?. I ordered an Ipod from dixons and DHL tracking said out for delivery Monday. I didn't receive the parcel and called DHL to be told it was sent to a "HOme delivery person" on monday and would be delivered on Tuesday. It actually arrived a 12.30 on Friday!!!!!!!!!!. I thought the parcel had ben lost, so you never know there
may still be a small glimmer of hope. At least you ordered from John lewis who hae a good level of customer service, unlike Dixons!!!!!!
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. John Lewis 'lost' my DS lite. It was 'lost' at the depot - I mean it arrived there, then it disappeared. I had to phone them loads of times to get a refund. They always said they would call me back, but they never did. The final time I called them, I insisted I spoke to a manager. In the end I got a full refund, plus £20 as a ''goodwill jesture''. I thought their customer service was dreadful. At least I got my money back, and I did manage to get another DS lite. I hope you find a wii. Good luck, and don't give up. Insist they give you something for the inconvenience.

Incidentally, the courier they used was 'home delivery network'.

You have the right to get your money back. You do not have a right to any compensation though if thats what your looking for.

Also, this is a consumer vent and not a shop but dont drop.
Its in the wrong place and needs moving

OP contact and MOD and ask them to move it
  • I to had a lost DS at John Lewis and I didnt want the refund as I could not get one elsewhere. Anyway in the end they cancelled the order and I rang them. I said the only place available was ebay at £146. They refunded me a total of £149 against the original amount paid - £80 (£100 less disocount voucher).

The chap at customer services (you can get the number for them from say no to 0870 webiste) was very understanding and just wanted to ensure I was happy.

In the ned I managed to get one from Tesco Direct.

So speek with them, JL are very good.

I agree John Lewis will probably be helpful in making good the difference. If you are having trouble sourcing one-don't give up. We had our order for one last Christmas cancelled and I managed to get one on the 23rd when Game at Bluewater had new deliveries. Bit close but it worked out so pester all the local stockists for when they expect deliveries !!
