Dryer recall

Hi,
My (b class) tumble dryer is subject to a recall. They are offering a c class as a replacement. With current energy prices, I'm worried this will cost more to run.
So my questions are...
1. Is there much difference in cost of running the B class vs C class?
2. Should I just be grateful I'm going to get a replacement, or should I try and insist on a B class replacement?
Thnx

Hi,
Considering that your dryer is being recalled because it's obviously dangerous, I don't see why you can't ask for the same energy class dryer to replace it. It isn't your fault that it's faulty and you are concerned about energy costs, which I don't think is unreasonable.
You can feel grateful if you like but as it's their problem, their mistake and their incompetence that's caused this inconvenience for you, then I think it's only fair that they supply you with the exact same class of dryer, i.e. B. That's what you bought in the first place, and that's what you should have now.
Don't just accept what they're offering. It's their responsibility to put you back in the same position you were in before the dryer was recalled. Which is with a B class tumble dryer. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Link to recalled and offered dryers would allow us to find and read the energy label / manufacturer spec information wrt energy consumptions. Make and model numbers would probably do it, too.
A very bottom of B rating vs very top of C rating may have very little energy consumption in practice while top of B unit vs bottom of C would be a big difference.
EDIT: Note also that Energy Labelling changed in March 2021 from A to F (with A+, ++ and +++) to a simpler A to G range: So you might be comparing 'old B' to 'New C' ratings...

Confused (I know I am).

If the diagrams at https://www.appliancecity.co.uk/news/sustainability/energy-labels-what-has-changed/ are correct then a current C beats a 2014 B hands down.1
