Having pushed Octopus Agile and Tracker products hard despite the detractors they are now longer a good deal that ship has sailed, if you hesitated or delayed you missed out on great caps on prices for 12 months.

So that leads me to greenenergyuk

This appears to be the only decent switch and fix left. The sparkling Tariff fixed til Sept 2023

Best switch and fix rates on the market currently with no exit fees.

Read the terms and conditions make sure it's right for you. This is a fixed rate not bound by price caps but does come under the expected rise in October and Jan 2023.

To rejoin a price capped product in the future you will have to switch to another provider at the end of your fixed rate as Green Energy are not bound by price caps and do not have to offer a product of this nature.

If you are happy with a switch and fix then a switch at the end should they not offer you a competitive one at the end of your fixed rate this could be for you.

They also do an interesting time of use tariff called tide that may suit some people, it's worth a look.

Yep I get that. I expected them to pull these rates a week or so back.

However they do fly under the radar, no one seems to promote them.

If it's not for you it's not for you👍

I do wonder if part of this is that they know people will (usually) either be tuned in to them, or not - the green brigade will support these companies regardless of the lack of a capped SVR, and they do simply fly under the radar for most others because of the lack of capped tariff?

My concern is that they don’t have the same cap at the end cos of their green status. Do other companies have to legally take me on and put me on svr if I ask them? Ie octopus or edf etc?

No they don't. Your problem if you have a supplier you don't like any longer.

I am kicking myself a bit as I went full force telling everyone to switch to Agile and Tracker and then started listening to the doomsayers when I knew in my head Octopus would release new versions of Agile and Tracker and not raise their caps.

I hope people jump on this deal before it disappears I suspect this is it now for anything decent on the market.

Not a response to your comment Essex. It's a very weak arguement saying there might not be a price capped switch available come September 2023. The market will no doubt be different then and I have never knows zero companies allowing a switch to the price capped rate.

As I have tried to explain being all electric I would go for the tide tariff we did the calculations we reckon we could come out at 30p kWh for the year with minimal changes to our lifestyle👍

Not ideal. Is the only option to request a disconnection etc ? Not sure if the cost of that and then reconnect?! pochase said:

You can pay for a damn long time a rate outside of cap to cover the cost for disconnection. And what would you do for a few weeks without electricity and gas?

You could always take a fixed rate with an other supplier (if available) and switch back to SVT after a few days sucking up the exit fees.

Personally I don't think it will be impossible to find somebody who will take you on SVT, or that the non capped SVT of a green company will be that much of a difference, but it would be wrong not to mention the potential issue.

I agree, that isn't the part I would be concerned about, staying in business long enough beyond September to make it worth having switched is the first hurdle to overcome... ... but based on a review of their 2021 accounts they are well placed to do this as long as they have not made a mess of their hedging during 2022.
Their next accounts will probably be published in October at which time we will know how well they have managed the year to April '22.
For now we just have to hope that the continued availability of the current fixed tariff reflects the hedging they have done and they just need a few more customers to fill out their demand target.

How do you work out 30p per kWh? Is that quoting an earlier version of the Tide tariff, or a very unusual pattern of usage?

I reckoned that the weekday average was around 38p per kWh and weekend around 33p. That's based on an appliance that is on full-time, such as fridges, freezers, and anything that you keep on standby? I'm still going for Tide, as it comes out cheaper than their Sparkiing tariff, as lon as one uses very little between 4 and 8 p.m. On weekdays.
