e-bike insurance

My current Household policy is with Churchill and my e-bike is covered in the home as a single article limit of £4000. It is worth £3500 and if I take it out on the road they will not cover it as it is beyond the maximum cover of £3000! Research into specific insurance companies reveal circa £200 for cover with excess of £1-200. I suggested I would take the hit and value it at £3000. No joy - they refused to cover it. HELP!

Look at e-bike insurance. Although Direct Line (part of the same group as Churchill) offer this https://www.directline.com/cycling-insurance/electric-bike-insurance?cmpid=43700066987648036/cyclist/ppc/GOOGLE/e+mountain+bike+insurance/kwd-705949032386/1006741/c&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlemWBhDUARIsAFp1rLUd1EzyrWuZ36lEYGgpPGwdRpP_DIypd7iyXC5bD-h939IHnuOHKXQaAov9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Or use a comparison site like gocompare https://www.gocompare.com/home-insurance/electric-bicycle/0 -
Look for a different household provider... I dont know if DLG ever got round to rationalising their products and brands but Churchill was always their cheap and cheerful brand (though a fair while after Direct Line bought them they still had the highest level of cover in the stable of brands they owned) and so shouldn't/probably doesn't have top tier covers.
M&S are happy to provide cover up to £10,000 on their standard policy or £15,000 on their Premier policy on cycles including those with electric assistance; they do exclude them from the liability section though. M&S is white labelled Aviva so you'd expect them to have similar limits on at least some of their products (though Aviva also span the full range of bargain basement up to mid net worth)1 -
Thanks for your responses. I will probably look for a policy which will cover me on a monthly basis until I get round to renewing the Home policy in March and see if I can get a company which will include the cover for the e-bike.0
