E-mails for the small business competition came to an e-mail address that I use just for Amazon and none to various other e-mail addresses I have so they almost certainly came from Amazon or Amazon were hackedhellojag said:are they fake? twitter is saying they might be legit1 -

The competition was definately legitimate is not very well designed or executed. The winning emails were a bit spammy looking, but if you logged directly into the portal that you originally registered with you'd see your number of entries and any wins to claim. So if you registered and at any point purchased from a small business during the competition period you will have gained entries and there were so many prizes there was a very good chance of a win.
