No turkeys!!!!!

I've just tried to organise an online shop with Tesco for some xmas food only to find they have no turkeys whatsoever, fresh or frozen!!! :eek:

Is this a national thing or just my local store? I can't beleive I can't even buy a frozen turkey as they're usually trying to sell them off cheap after xmas!!!

Would I be too late to try and order one from a butcher now?

    Im sure you might be able to get fresh from the butcher. I brought a turkey crown the other morning from our local butcher.

    I saw last Sunday in Tesco freezer they was selling turkeys 1/2 price, Im very surprised they have sold out so soon!

    Is it worth trying Sainsbury's on line, or even still - popping in to the store in person!

    Some butchers might still be able to get you one. I ordered mine in November from the farm shop I use which buys Turkeys from a farm up here so hasn't been effected by the bird flu issues. I did check to make sure our orders were still ok when I went up last week, because people suggested a shortage or price hike may occur.

    I wonder if it's just past the date to order Turkey with a Tesco order, I know there was a date stated when I looked a while ago, there isn't any listed when I looked and I know they had them in yesterday when I was there.
    One day I might be more organised...........:confused:

    my mum ordered her turkey ages ago from local farm shop, we have not collected it yet, but have never had a problem previously (except may be slightly underwieght!!) dont worry me as i'm veggie, but dont think i can live with family without turky @ christmas!!

    Our local butcher is still taking orders till the 20th December.

    Aldi's had some in for £5.99 and huge crowns for £4.99. Iceland maybe as last resort:confused:

    Thanks everyone, looks like it's just online orders that are affected then so will have to get my act together and go out this week to find one. Still have no clue what my plans for xmas day are yet but feel I should go and get something even if it ends up in the freezer till new year.
