  • I only use McDonalds for a coffee, or an occasional wrap. I am pleased that people who eat regularly at McDonalds can now get a range of freebies, but it means I will now have to buy 15 coffees to get a free one instead of only 5. Looks like I will be looking for a new coffee seller - Greggs coffees are almost identical and I don't need to buy 15 to get a freebie.

But Greggs charges £1.55 for a coffee and then a free one after 9. So £13.95 for 10 coffees or £1.40 each.
McDonalds is 99p for a coffee and a free one after spending £15, so £15.84 for 17 coffees or 93p each.

Still significantly cheaper to get the 99p coffee at McDonalds (assuming you don't drink lattes in which case McDonalds is closer to Greggs prices)
  • We loved the easy coffee bean stickers on the cups and immediately went and got the app for our free coffees but we are flummoxed along with the staff on how it actually works when using the drive-thru. We do the code before paying - they should then scan for us to then accumulate the points. But every time they don’t know what to do and there’s pressure of the cars behind to sort it. it worked once but never again! So we never seem to get our free coffee! Hopefully someone may know how this system works…

To gain points it is just as you say, tell the staff the code.

For redemptions you need to redeem the points in the app first to "buy" the reward you want and add it to your code. Then apparently (I haven't redeemed yet) give the code to the staff and redeem the reward.

The staff can't redeem points, only rewards. You need to convert the points to a reward in the app first.
