    It might be an idea to use a month closer to when the rise takes place, it should be possible now that everything's automated,

    Don't you believe it ..... I know of a case where the increase which should have been  applied to pensions  on  1 July (based on inflation rate for May)   wasn't  paid on time because the ONS data was announced a couple of days later than usual and the paying agency's system couldn't cope....
