Anyone else finding their Waitrose vouchers have changed this week?

Usually I find the choice of Waitrose vouchers offered are for things I buy regularly.  Fish, milk, coffee, loo roll, cereal etc.  I could easily save £5 or more per week.

I just logged on to my Waitrose account today to see what my vouchers were prior to going shopping shortly.  Every item for which I am offered a voucher is something I’ve never bought before.  One for cabbage and one for kale (dislike cabbage so they are never going to be used).  One for individual chocolate trifles - I never buy individual pre-prepared desserts.  One for vegan ‘meat’ slices, two for different sorts of pate, one for branded potatoes.  I buy potatoes about once in a blue moon and if I do I don’t buy branded ones.

The amounts of discounts have changed too, I have been offered £5 off a large pack of loo rolls or £3 off a couple of salmon or trout fillets.  Today the best discount is £1.50 off a ready meal moussaka.  Most of the other discounts are 50p.

I can’t help wondering if Waitrose have discovered their discounts are all costing too much so they are going to offer things they know I’m not likely to buy…..

This is an old thread, but it seems since I downloaded the app and moved near a Waitrose, that the coupons are only ever 50p off now.

A partner on the Customer Services desk told me that I could simply select the two highest value vouchers each week, because their system didn't actually check them against the items bought. Maybe too many customers have discovered this loophole, so they've limited the vouchers to 50p each. Mine have all been 50p since the new year.

To be fair - the faff of trying to get to the vouchers - having limited choice - and them being for next to nothing makes them a lot less appealing these days. I remember when they were first introduced I got £5 off a few bits - now it's only 50p as you've said, and if using a browser having to find the link to the my waitrose bit, and then the vouchers, and then select them, and then apply them in the basket at checkout. Why can't they make it more automated? I think whoever is running this bit of the business needs to modernise a little and bring things into the 21st century.

I agree the 50p vouchers are not worth bothering with. I'm told Waitrose are moving to a system where the vouchers are checked against the items actually bought, so I'm hoping the voucher values will go up again when this is implemented.
