I buy my footwear from Hotter Shoes (sale only, not full price  :) ) but have noticed since they were bought out by another company (last year?) their prices have gone up (hasn't everything) and their sale prices seem to be less generous than before.  They do however last a long time so the price per wear is justifiable.  I can normally get a standard fitting but sometimes need a wide fitting, depending on the style, especially with sandals.

Other decent companies catering for wider feet are Pavers and Sketchers.  Again, not too expensive if buying in the sales.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

Thanks for all the suggestions, particularly for strap extenders. A quick Amazon search reminded me that I probably have something suitable already, I'll take them with us!

Sadly, we don't need to worry about whether what we buy will last well. I just want her to look presentable whenever she gets to escape ... so that SHE feels dignified and 'together'. She would never leave the house in slippers, so she shouldn't have to do so now.

Does she also have treatment for the swollen feet? Massage? A simple exercise is to keep feet on the floor and lift toes and heels alternately, just to get the large calf muscle moving, which transports the fluids back up.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

I ordered some sandals from Cosyfeet, and managed to mangle the delivery address so comprehensively that there was no hope of delivery. Today, after 2 weeks in limbo, I got the call to say they'd been returned to sender, and would I like to try again, or have a refund?

Absolutely lovely conversation with them, a warning that this address may insert itself into future orders with ANY supplier, and immediate refund - because MiL is less and less mobile, so footwear is less and less necessary.

She may have had exercises, but she's spending a lot of time in bed, and that's reduced the swelling anyway. No, I know too much lying in bed isn't going to help mobility, but we may be beyond help.

I'm just hoping her slippers have been found! I wonder if she didn't recognise them as hers, because they're new and different ... not that she needs slippers that much now, but still.
